February 20, 2020) With the increase in the load limit for the winter road, materials for The Three Nations Energy (3NE) phase II Solar Farm have started to arrive in Fort Chipewyan. For the weeks of February 17th and 24th supplies for the farm will be shipped along the winter road, including solar panels and various infrastructure, such as buildings that will house electronic components.
As materials are being brought into the community site clearing is underway for the 3NE solar farm. Clearing is expected to be completed by the end of February, at which point construction will begin.
Construction is expected to continue through spring and summer with November 2020 being the target for project startup.
