Jonathan Luckhurst from Greenplanet Energy Analytics and Cheyanne Blesse from Three Nations Energy arrived at the ADCS shop class on April 26, 2023, to construct two raised garden beds for the Fort Chipewyan Community High School. Both raised garden beds will be set up at the High School and will compliment the wicking beds and the aquaponics systems already being used for local food growing and student learning. Raised garden beds can be placed anywhere you like, and they usually have the best soil because it is easy to mix the perfect soil in a container for healthy growing plants. The soil in raised garden beds is never compacted, stays loose and easy to work with, and has better water drainage than ground-level gardens. It is much easier to care for the plants you grow in the garden beds because the raised garden beds are typically 4×8’ and everything you plant is within arms reach.
