Together, the 3NE Partner Nations are pursuing a program this summer to install solar electricity packages for cabin owners on the land.
In the first year, ACFN will be installing seven systems, the Fort Chipewyan Metis Association will be installing five systems and MCFN have an ambitious first year, with 15 planned installations. Materials for the first 12 systems were delivered to Fort Chipewyan during the winter, and the remaining materials will be arriving by barge soon.
Starting at the end of June, staff from Greenplanet Energy Analytics will be up in the community to begin working with local workers to assemble and set up the solar systems, and to train cabin owners on operation and maintenance. With the overwhelming demand for these solar systems, 3NE is hoping to run the program for a second year to add more cabin owners.
