With no road access to the community for most of the year, most vehicles are used for short trips around town, making Fort Chipewyan an ideal community for electric vehicles (EVs).
Introducing the EV Kickstart Program
This eighteen-month program:
- Involves everyone in the Fort Chipewyan community
- Explores the challenges of using electric vehicles in Canada’s North.
- Demonstrates EVs as a practical option for saving money and the environment.
- Includes content that is adapted to local needs
- Brings the discussion and learning to the community, rather than sending individuals away to learn
Natural Resources Canada developed the Zero Emission Vehicle Awareness Initiative (ZEVAI) to support projects that aim to provide education and inspire confidence in ZEV’s.
