Kids and adults of Fort Chip had a chance to showcase their mountain biking skills during Tuesday’s Metis Days celebration. (July 27, 2021) The cycling event, which featured an obstacle course and short races, was organized by avid racers Clayton and Kevin Stafford of Greenplanet Energy Analytics.
Tuesday’s event promoted the Fort Chipewyan Cross Country cycling program, which has been running in the community for the past two years. The financial assistance from the three Nations of Fort Chipewyan for the purchase of 24 race bikes is greatly appreciated. The program encourages a healthy lifestyle and provides opportunities for youth of Fort Chipewyan to participate in mountain bike races across the province.
A sign of things to come, Fort Chip Cross Country will be running youth and adult groups rides when safe to do so. Those interested can contact Kevin Stafford by email at , or text at (780)-236-5381.
