The Athabasca Delta Community School students are getting more practical hands-on experience with garden beds. This time three classes were involved in the construction and set-up.
These specialized beds use a natural wicking system to supply water to plants for weeks. This reduces the amount of water and maintenance needed to grow healthy vegetables. The students added these beds to the others they built in the geodesic dome greenhouse next to the school.
Greenplanet Energy Analytics has been doing the work with students and staff and funding is covered by ACFN through the Climate Change and Health Adaptation Program.
