Interest continues to soar on Canada’s largest remote solar farm that has been supplying electricity since January 2021. Solar Alberta, in collaboration with ATCO and 3NE, hosted an interactive webinar on May 20th, 2021, featuring one of 3NE’s founding members, Jason Schulz, and Greenplanet Energy Analytics’ Clayton Stafford, a 3NE project manager for the solar farm project.
The webinar contains storytelling, technical details and Q&A from project experts, explaining the unique situation Fort Chipewyan found itself in as a remote community, with power demand growth outpacing power supply. Sustainable energy became the only practical option for a community with limited winter road access. With the effects of climate change being very noticeable for Fort Chipewyan residents, panelists pointed out that the project was successful due to community collaboration and support for sustainable infrastructure.
Attendees tuned in from across Canada. Over 115 people attended the live event, making it one of the more well-attended Solar Series Seminars to date. View the full webinar on Solar Alberta’s YouTube page.
