With winter setting in, what better time to think of growing vegetables? That’s what’s happening at ADCS as the new wicking beds were moved from the outdoor greenhouse to indoor classrooms. On November 8-10, 2023, Cheyanne Blesse of Three Nations Energy and Jonathan Luckhurst of Greenplanet Energy Analytics worked with the students to make this happen. Everyone worked together to move four of the special 4 x 2’ growing beds and gained valuable hands-on learning preparing the soil mixtures and constructing the stands for the grow lights. Students also participated in a seed-starting workshop, learned how to maintain the wicking beds, and planted carrots and beets.
